Cargill Sas van Gent has chosen Viewport as a single point of entry for finding technical documentation of their process facilities. Viewport retrieves information from different sources and publishes this to end-users in one portal. Versatec acted as the implementation partner during the installation and configuration of Viewport at Cargill Sas van Gent.
What started as a pilot project to prove the application and solution, finally resulted in a fully customized implementation. More than 37,000 loop diagrams in AutoCAD format were automatically converted into PDF, categorized and provided with a document number and title, which is in-line with the company’s procedures. Any new updates are detected and processed by Viewport, providing the end-user with a well rendered PDF with document number and tile and other relevant metadata, stored in the correct publication location.
Connections with multiple systems are in place, e.g. the lubrication monitoring tool, appropriate tags from the CMMS and the applicable documentation automatically hyperlink with each other in Viewport, providing the end-user ‘cross-border’ insight.
Tags on PI&Ds became clickable allowing the user to easily jump to relevant information and quickly browse other related documents.
User introduction sessions were held and, within an hour, users were familiar with the tool and started using it just get the correct and up-to date information that they were searching for.
The project was successfully handed over to Cargill.
