Versatec Energy Lead Principals

Klaas-Otto Ykema

Managing Director Klaas-Otto Ykema brings over two decades of Oil & Gas (O&G) HSE, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) commissioning, and IT control systems experience to lead Versatec’s diverse consulting team. He directs and monitors Versatec’s overall project operations with the goal to “go one step beyond” to meet clients’ rigorous industry standards. Before ascending the helm at Versatec in 2008, Klaas was our Senior Consultant for five years. He supervised and managed technical projects for clients like Shell and Total in areas such as pre-commissioning, SIL assessments, HAZID reviews and tailored operating manuals. His areas of O&G expertise include SCADA System development, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Instrumented Safety Systems, and Distributed Control System (DCS)/Emergency Shutdown (ESD) reconfiguration.

Klaas has performed onsite, hands-on troubleshooting of O&G Process Control Systems (PCS) at North Sea platforms and related European regional plants. His versatile background also includes service in the Royal Netherlands Military.

Tim Marting

Business Process Manager Tim takes pride in helping companies achieve their corporate business objectives. In an effort to break down the “silo mindset” within organisations, he analyses client data / document structures and devises more efficient information-sharing programs to improve client productivity across-the-board. Tim serves on the Management Board of USPI, the Dutch association of process industry companies. (USPI promotes the share and exchange of digital information to optimally operate and maintain process facilities using internationally accepted standards in line with ISO 15926.) He has an MBA degree from Nijenrode University in The Netherlands.
